Job description

The School of Chemistry & Chemical Engineering (CCE) at Queen’s University Belfast, is currently seeking to appoint an exceptional innovative mechatronics / mechanical engineer to the post of Research Fellow.

The mechatronics engineer’s responsibilities include improving existing mechanical systems, developing new product concepts and prototypes, designing and testing mechanical and electronic systems, developing various automated systems including a stand-alone control system for a redox flow battery with real-time data acquisition and monitoring.

The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate you have:

  • MEng: at least 2:1 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or in a related engineering discipline.
  • 3 years’ experience to include:

    • Recent experience developing and building prototype mechanical, electrical and electronic integrated systems.
    • Computer-Aided Engineering (e.g., 3D CAD (SolidWorks), MATLAB).
    • Experience with PLCs or other related programming / control system devices and software (e.g. Arduino, Raspberry Pi, LabView).
    • Ability to undertake high quality practical work requiring dexterity, precision and organisation.

Fixed Term 12 months available until 30 September 2023

Fixed term contract posts are available for the stated period in the first instance but in particular circumstances may be renewed or made permanent subject to availability of funding.
